Expert hairstylist Steven Lightfoot has just returned to Portland after styling the hair of New York City’s  elite at the world renowned Prive Salon in the heart of Manhattan. While in NYC, Lightfoot was invited  time and again to work with other top industry professionals behind the scenes at fashion week. “Steven  is a very hard worker, a very talented guy. He is very creative,” states Prive owner Laurent D’ufourg.  Lightfoot has been a traveling powerhouse for many leading hair companies around the world such as  Cortex, Salon Tech, and Salon Services Northwest, and currently teaches at a wide array of national hair  shows, which allow him to showcase his innate ability to bring back beauty, luster, and style to any
client’s hair. “He is eager to train, to teach, and to share his knowledge,” continues D’ufourg. “He’s very  on top of what’s going on in the industry, and is always looking for new products, new ingredients, and  new techniques.”

“I’ve been able to walk so many different areas of this business,” states Lightfoot. “If you sit down with a hairdresser, it’s somebody who does a lot of hair, and I’ve created the hair products that help those people to do it better. I teach the technique based education that takes them away from using their can of hair spray, and I show them how to maintain hair. I did 22 hair shows in 2012, and I’m slated to do 18 this year. This is the forefront of the industry, technologically and stylistically, and these are the major shows that dictate where the industry stands. I have been at all of them-every single one of them, from Texas to New York to LA. And they are so diverse, this country is so vast. Texas doesn’t dress like Seattle, let alone have the same hair.”

Lightfoot feels strongly that Portland is truly where his heart is, and is deeply passionate about bringing a new level of hair care and style to the Pacific Northwest that is both affordable and attainable. “My goal is to bring great hair back to the world, to both the client and the stylist,” he states. “You don’t have to be in New York or LA to create quality hair, and Portland has such a great culture. To be able to infuse a New York and LA mentality along with my specific style set into a town like this is conducive to my own growth and to giving people what they deserve: The great feeling and confidence that comes from knowing they look good.”

Working closely with each individual client, Lightfoot attempts to fully understand their personal situation, and to help them bring their hair to life. “Steven has done my hair for years, from London to Portland to New York, and all over the world,” states Carolyn Jackson. “And every time he does my hair, people say how nice my hair looks, and they want to know who does it and how they can find him.”“I think Steven is awesome,” states Portland’s international artist Tamara English. “He does great work. Something that I really respect about Steven is not just that he listens, but that he steps up and does an amazing job on my hair! He is super talented, and is really passionate about what he does.” Even after styling literally thousands of heads of hair, Lightfoot’s view of his clients remains unique. “There is an emotional aspect,” he states. “It’s a lot of energy and a lot of work, and I love it.”
